Forgetting: What's Normal, What's Not, and When to Pay Attention

  • Runnymede United Church 432 Runnymede Road Toronto, ON, M6S 2Y8 Canada (map)

What kinds of forgetting are normal as we age? When should we pay attention? And how does memory actually work in everyday life?

Join us for a thoughtful and accessible evening conversation with Dr. Bill Hockley, Professor Emeritus of Psychology and longtime memory researcher:

Forgetting: What’s Normal, What’s Not, and When to Pay Attention

Dr. Hockley will explore common experiences of memory and aging, including:
• normal age-related memory changes
• why some things feel familiar but hard to retrieve
• how memory changes over time
• when changes may deserve closer attention

The evening will include a presentation, moderated discussion, audience questions, and dessert and refreshments afterward in a relaxed community setting.

Attendees will also receive a practical take-home resource booklet with information on:
• simple ways to support safety and independence at home
• planning living spaces with aging in mind
• community resources related to memory and aging
