Sunday School Corner
Monthly Theme - Stewardship
In October, our first two weeks in children's church we will be celebrating World Wide Communion Sunday and Thanksgiving. During the Annual Giving Program our Sunday School will be learning about stewardship. What does it mean to be good stewards of the Earth? Of our communities? How can we practice stewardship in our daily lives?
Bannock Recipe
This past Sunday our children's church made bannock for the congregation in honour of Orange Shirt Day. By popular request, here is the elder approved recipe we used from the Aahksoyo’p Nootski Cookbook by Shantel Tallow and Paul Conley.
Ingredients
4 cups all-purpose flour
2 tablespoons of baking powder
1 teaspoons of salt
½-2 cups of warm water
½ cup of olive oil
Directions
In a large bowl, stir together the flour, baking powder and salt.
Make a well in the middle of the flour mixture and pour in the water, then stir just until combined.
Pinch off some dough and form it into a ball, roughly the size of a tennis ball.
On a greased baking tray, flatten the ball into a 1 inch thick disk.
Using a basting brush, oil the top of the dough disk.
Bake in a preheated 400˚F oven for 10-15 minutes.
Take out once golden and let cool.
Enjoy!
